What You’ll Get
with Salsa primero classes
Extended-length classes
Because each class is 90 minutes long, you get to go deeper the first time we learn a concept.
Time to dance
Nothing makes a dance class fun like time to dance! And immediately applying what you learn helps you learn and grow quicker.
Progressive cycles
Since each week’s material builds on the prior week’s, you get to reinforce what you have learned.
Salsa 1.1 and 1.2 introduce six core moves that make up most of what you see on the dance floor. We do this in a way that makes sense for how you learn.
Technique-focused instruction
We take a “fewer better” approach so you learn a few core things well and have less need to revisit your foundation in the future. This measured approach lets you learn more quickly as we go.
As they say: “slow is smooth and smooth is fast.”

“Leon is so knowledgeable and patient. His attention to detail has helped me grow as a salsa dancer. Anyone looking to build a strong foundation in salsa on2 should learn from him!”

FAQs
Is this class for first-time dancers or people who already know how to dance?
Salsa 1.1 will be most valuable for four groups of people:
- First-time dancers.
- On1 dancers who are new to dancing on2.
- Cuban-style dancers who want to learn linear salsa.
- Anyone who feels like they have some gaps in their dance foundation that they would like to shore up.
What happens if I have to miss a class one week?
Classes happen in 4-week cycles.
If you are not able to make one week, you can join the corresponding week in the following cycle.
Depending on the following cycle’s class size, we may not be able to accommodate more than one week of make-ups per person.
Example: if you are unable to make the third week of the March cycle, you can come to the third week* in the April cycle. (I will review and refine the class plan each time I offer the class, so we will keep in contact if you need to make up a class.)
I’ve already been dancing for a long time. Do I need to take Salsa 1.1 or can I go right into Salsa 1.2?
Many dancers will benefit from starting with Salsa 1.1. I have found that a review of the basics is often much more helpful than people realize.
However, if you want to explore starting with Salsa 1.2, fill out our interest form. People can only join Salsa 1.2 after completing Salsa 1.1 or getting instructor permission to join Salsa 1.2.
